Day 1
Arrival in Rio de Janeiro

Welcome to Rio! Your guide will welcome you and accompany you to your hotel on Copacabana Beach.

Day 2
Rio de Janeiro

Journey up to Corcovado Mountain, going along Rio’s beaches, across the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon and on a cogwheel train up the mountainside. Climb a flight of steps to reach the base of the soaring Art Nouveau Christ the Redeemer statue, where you’ll get some of the best views in the city. Your guide will lead you back down via yet another scenic route.

Day 3
Rio de Janeiro

Follow your guide onto the two-stage cable-car ride to Sugarloaf Mountain, where you can get fantastic views down onto the city and Copacabana Beach.

Next on the itinerary is a tour of downtown Rio, where you’ll find the city’s major colonial buildings. Among the highlights are Marechal Floriano Square, the Municipal Theatre, the Fine Arts Museum and the National Library.

Day 4
Rio de Janeiro – Iguaçu Falls

Catch your flight in the morning to the Brazilian border and check in to your next hotel, set in the tropical Iguaçu National Park.

There are 275 cascades in the Iguaçu Falls. Take a guided walking tour on the Brazilian side of the falls to observe them from various viewing points. Your guide is on hand to point out contis (racoon-like creatures) lurking for tourist crumbs as you move along the winding trail. You’ll end up speeding down in an elevator to another viewing point at the foot of the thundering falls.

Day 5
Iguaçu Falls

Time to cross the border into Argentina to view the Iguaçu Falls from another angle. You’ll see some of the Argentinian Iguazu Park by train, before exploring the upper walkways of the rainforest on foot. Stand on the platform suspended on the brink of the Devil’s Throat – the largest of the waterfalls here – before returning by train to see the San Martin Falls.

Day 6-8

Board a flight from Iguaçu to Manaus, where you’ll be collected and taken to your next lodge in the Amazon jungle.

Spend a couple of days taking advantage of the various tours and activities on offer here. These include nature hikes, a trip to the Monkey Forest, a visit to a caboclo’s house (the local indigenous people of the region), fishing and an evening nature tour by canoe. There’s also a day excursion to the incredible ‘Meeting of the Waters’, the point where the dark rushing flow of the Rio Negro and the sandy current of the Amazon River run alongside each other without mixing.

Amazon – Salvador

Enjoy your last breakfast at the lodge – you’re flying to Salvador today.
