Day 1
Kuching

Land in Kuching where you’ll be greeted by your guide and accompanied to your hotel.

Spend the afternoon touring the city, visiting the Sarawak Museum, Market Place, the State Mosque and the Historical Chinese Temple, before boarding a scenic river cruise.

Day 2
Kuching – Batang Ai

Drive through a lush countryside of paddy fields, pepper gardens, rubber plantations and jungle-clad mountains. Along the way you’ll stop at a farmer’s market, visit a pepper garden then have lunch at a roadside bazaar deep in Iban country.

Board a longboat on the Lemanak River and take in the Borneo scenery of bending river views dotted with ancient longhouses. Make a stop to learn about the lives and customs of local people. You’ll finish with a glide across Batang Ai Hydro Lake before disembarking for the day at your hotel.

Day 3
Batang Ai – Kuching

Enjoy a breakfast with lake views before beginning the journey back to Kuching.

Day 4
Kuching – Mulu

Fly to Miri and travel onward to Mulu to check in to your next hotel.

Take an afternoon walk to the beautiful Deer & Lang Caves in Mulu Park, where you’ll wait for the resident bats to make their dusk exit from the caves.

Day 5
Mulu

After breakfast, leave by longboat to pay a visit to the Penan settlement, home to a semi-nomadic tribe of Sarawak, before continuing to the Wind Cave and the 107-kilometre-long Clearwater Cave.

You’ll return to your hotel where you can relax by the pool or enjoy the spa facilities.

Day 6
Mulu – Kota Kinabalu

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Kota Kinabalu, where you’ll be welcomed and taken to your next hotel.

Day 7
Kota Kinabalu

Spend the day touring Kinabalu Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world. It’s overlooked by Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak in Malaysia, towering at 4,095 metres. Explore the montane oak-chestnut forest then proceed to Poring to see the lowland dipterocarp forest and soak in the hot springs.

Day 8
Kota Kinabalu – Sandakan – Selingan Island

Board your flight to Sandakan, where you’ll be met and taken by speedboat to your hotel on Selingan Island.

Settle in with a swim or some snorkelling, before an evening trip with a ranger to see turtles nesting.

Day 9
Selingan – Sukau

Today you’re going to Sandakan to visit an orangutan rehabilitation centre, where you can see the animals being fed. Move on to a sun bear conservation centre, where these protected animals are cared for before being released back into the forest.

After lunch, take a cruise up to the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary, passing magnificent mangrove forests bursting with monkeys and birds. Check in to your lodge at Sukau before enjoying a cruise to the Menanggul River and back.

Day 10
Goodbye Malaysia

Have a hearty breakfast before returning to Sandakan by boat and transferring to the airport for your return flight.
