Day 1
Kota Kinabalu

Land in the coastal city of Kota Kinabalu, known as KK, where you’ll be welcomed and taken to your hotel.

In the late afternoon, follow your guide to learn about traditional village life for Borneo tribes. See how local people cook, build their homes and entertain themselves, with a walk through villages set deep in the jungle followed by some traditional music, dancing and dinner.

Day 2
Kota Kinabalu

Spend the day touring Kinabalu Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world. It’s overlooked by Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak in Malaysia, towering at 4,095 metres. Explore the montane oak-chestnut forest then proceed to Poring to see the lowland dipterocarp forest and soak in the hot springs.

Day 3
Kota Kinabalu – Sandakan – Sukau Village

Today you’re going to Sandakan to visit an orangutan rehabilitation centre, where you can see the animals being fed. Move on to a sun bear conservation centre, where these protected animals are cared for before being released back into the forest.

After lunch, take a cruise up to the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary, passing magnificent mangrove forests bursting with monkeys and birds. Check in to your lodge at Sukau before enjoying a cruise to the Menanggul River and back.

Day 4
Sukau – Danum Valley

Today you’re travelling overland to the awe-inspiring Danum Valley, where you’ll check into your lodge. In the afternoon, follow your guide on a nature trail and enjoy the views from the canopy walkway. In the evening, you can join a night drive in an open-topped truck to spot nocturnal wildlife.

Day 5
Danum Valley

Spend the day enjoying the jungle around you, taking in the Kadazan-Dusun burial site and breath-taking views of the Danum Valley and the Borneo lowland rainforest. You can sign up for water tubing in the Danam River or a further trek along the Segama River.

Day 6
Danum Valley – Kota Kinabalu – Tuaran

Board your flight to Kota Kinabalu, where you’ll be met and taken to your next stop: Tuaran.

Day 7-10
Tuaran

You’ve got a few days to relax at your hotel and explore the local area – hit the beach, explore the city and join the excursions and activities that interest you.

Day 11
Farewell to KK

Say your goodbyes – it’s time to catch your flight home from Kota Kinabalu.
