Day 1
Arrival in Cusco

You’ll be greeted at the airport and accompanied to your hotel. On the way, your guide will talk you through Cusco’s main attractions.

Day 2

Take the day to settle in however you like – explore the surroundings at your leisure or join a tour of the city.

Day 3
Cusco – Soraypampa – Andenes

Depart Cusco and ascend by road to Soraypampa, where the trek begins. Take in magnificent views of the snow-covered Vilcabamba peaks and the south side of Salkantay Mountain – keep your eyes peeled for the soaring Andean condor. Stop for lunch at Wayracmachay then resume your journey along the Salkantay River, noting the changing landscape as you move into warmer jungle territory. Stop to set up camp at Andenes.

Day 4
Andenes – Lucmabamba

Today you’ll be trekking through the Santa Teresa river valley, passing plantations of bananas, avocados and coffee. A car will take you to the starting point of the Llactapata Inca Trail, from where you’ll proceed on foot to the campsite at Lucmabamba. Enjoy a coffee tasting here in the evening with a local family.

Day 5
Lucmabamba – Llaqtapata – Machu Picchu

Start the day with an uphill climb to Llactapata Pass and see the archaeological complex here. You can enjoy a distant view of Machu Picchu from here over lunch. Continue through bamboo forests, coffee plantations and orchards before boarding a train to Aguas Calientes for the night.

Day 6
Machu Picchu – Cusco

Rise early and catch a bus to Machu Picchu, where you’ll have a two-hour guided tour of this fascinating complex. A return journey by bus, train and road will drop you back in Cusco for the night.

Day 7

You’ve got the day to yourself – consider hopping on a tour of the villages and countryside of the Sacred Valley.

Day 8
Goodbye to Peru

Set off to the airport with your guide. It’s time to bid farewell to Peru.
