Arrive in Cape Town
Arrive in beautiful Cape Town (the Mother City of South Africa), collect your rental car and drive to Antrim Villa – your base for 3 nights whilst you explore all the wonders of Cape Town. Converted to a guesthouse 10 years ago, Antrim Villa offers airy rooms decorated in a tropical-African style and a large saltwater pool nestled in a secluded tropical garden.
Day 2 & 3
Explore Cape Town
Start your day with a delicious breakfast, then spend your time exploring all that Cape Town has to offer; Table Mountain, Robben Island, Cape of Good Hope, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Camps Bay, Two Oceans Aquarium and Boulders Beach to name a few!
The Garden Route – Hermanus
Wave goodbye to Cape Town and make your way to the coastal village of Hermanus said to provide “The best land-based whale watching in the world.” You’ll be staying at the Potting Shed Guest House situated in the village centre. Relax by the pool & fire up the BBQ, or take a stroll and explore the cliff paths before choosing a restaurant.
The Garden Route – Knysna
Start the day with a delicious breakfast packed with homemade goodies and freshly baked bread, then drive along the coast to the picturesque town of Knysna. One of the most popular destinations on the Garden Route, Knysna is famous for its annual oyster festival, friendly people and the magnificent views from Leisure Island to the Knysna Heads. You’ll be spending the night at the Knsyna Log Inn, just a 5 min walk from the waterfront, where you’ll find a choice of restaurants and quaint little shops.
The Garden Route – Oudtshoorn
Set off after breakfast and make your way to Oudtshoorn (the ostrich capital of the world). The region is also home to the spectacular Cango Caves, Africa’s largest show cave system and the Swartberg mountain range, which is part of the Cape Floral World Heritage Site.
Spend the night at De Zeekoe a stylish lusern farm offering charming and unique accommodation from rustic waterfront chalets to luxurious cottages.
The Garden Route – Stellenbosch
After breakfast, make your way into the heart of South Africa’s famous wine country. Stellenbosch lies near the head of the Eerste River Valley which produces the grapes for some of the world’s finest wines. Rusthuiz guest house is an easy 600m walk from the charming town centre with world class restaurants and shops.
Make your way to Kruger
Enjoy breakfast before returning your car to Cape Town and boarding a flight to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. On arrival you will be met by your driver who will transfer you to your game lodge in the heart of Big 5 country.
Umkumbe Safari Lodge is located in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, considered by many to be the premier wildlife reserve in South Africa. Located on the banks of the seasonal Sand River, Umkumbe Safari Lodge is perfectly situated in one of the best Big Five game viewing destinations in Africa. Guests regularly see elephants, hippos, buffalo and antelope grazing in the river bed. Enjoy three nights at Umkumbe Safari Lodge, on a Full Board basis including two game drives per day.
Day 9 & 10
Kruger game drives
After an early breakfast experience the sights and smells of dawn in the Kruger. Enjoy sightings of an extraordinary variety of wildlife, birdlife and plant life (including the Big Five) as you set off on game drives led by qualified field guides.
Goodbye for now
Sadly your holiday has come to an end. Bid your hosts farewell before traveling back to Maputo International Airport for an early afternoon outbound flight.
