Day 1
Arrive in Bangkok

Your local guide will pick you up from the airport and transport you to your hotel in Thailand’s frenetic capital city for a three-night stay.

Day 2
Bangkok sightseeing tour

Visit Wat Pho temple for the monk’s morning chanting ritual and see the golden reclining Buddha. Take a tuk-tuk via the flower market to the Grand Palace. Board a long-tail boat along Thonburi’s klongs (canals) to get a flavour of local life. Your guide will also lead you on a tour of Chinatown for a glimpse of the old Bangkok, visiting a vintage teashop and market before returning to your hotel.

Day 3
Ayutthaya tour

Drive from Bangkok to the UNESCO-listed heritage site of Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of the Thai kingdom. On the way, stop at Bang Pa-In Summer Palace. Stroll around the ruins of a former royal temple and see the much-photographed Wat Mahathat, where a tree has grown around the stone head of a Buddha. Have a local lunch before returning to Bangkok for the evening.

Day 4
Floating markets and flight to Chiang Rai

Head out of the city early to explore the vibrant floating market of Damnoen Saduak by boat. Drive back to Bangkok for your flight to the northern town of Chiang Rai. Your local guide will meet you at the airport and drive you to a comfortable hotel in Chiang Rai.

Day 5
Hill tribe villages tour

Your guide will take you to visit the diverse hill tribe villages of the Golden Triangle. Along the way you’ll stop at Chiang Saen, scattered with ancient ruins, and Thailand’s most northern town of Mae Sai with its border crossing to Myanmar. Return to Chiang Rai in the late afternoon for an overnight stay.

Day 6
Drive to Chiang Mai and Night Market tour

You’ll be picked up and taken by road to a hotel in Thailand’s cultural city of Chiang Mai. In the evening your local guide will take you on a tour of Chiang Mai’s huge and bustling Night Market in the centre of town that sells everything from handicrafts and antiques to local silks and silver jewellery. You’ll be taken back to your hotel in Chiang Mai.

Day 7
Elephant home experience

Get up close to the elephants at a special sanctuary and go for a ride through the forest to a natural black mud spa where you can play with the elephants and wash off the mud in a local river. Indulge in an optional Thai herbal spa treatment for your hands and feet and learn about the local reforestation project before heading back to Chiang Mai.

Day 8
Chiang Mai tour and home cooking class

Experience a food and flower market, visit heritage temples including Wat Phrathat on a mountainside with panoramic views. Take a rickshaw ride around Chiang Mai’s old town. Visit a traditional Thai family home, explore the orchard to source ingredients for a cooking class, then tuck into the meal you’ve prepared with the family. Retire back to your hotel for the night.

Day 9
Fly to Phuket

You’ll be picked up and taken to Chiang Mai airport for a flight to the island of Phuket. Your local guide will be waiting at Phuket airport to take you to your hotel.

Day 10
Phi Phi islands cruise

Take a speedboat cruise around the spectacularly beautiful Phi Phi islands, stopping to swim around Bamboo island, snorkelling off Yoong Island, and visiting the wild monkeys of Monkey Island. Have lunch on Phi Phi Don and visit the hidden lagoon of Maya Bay where movie The Beach was filmed. Return by boat back to Phuket and on to your hotel.

Day 11
Phang Nga Bay National Marine Park boat tour

You’ll be whisked off on a boat tour of Phang Nga Bay National Marine Park cruising past hundreds of limestone karst islands with caves, grottoes and untouched beaches. You’ll paddle through sea caves and visit James Bond Island, which featured in the franchise. There will also be time to explore a stilted village, enjoy a tasty Thai lunch and a swim before returning to your hotel.

Day 12
Phuket tour

Your guide will show you around the beautiful island of Phuket, taking you to the best beaches, look-out points and a Buddhist monastery, and leading you on a sightseeing tour of Phuket Town before transporting you back to your hotel.

Day 13
Relax in Phuket

Spend the day relaxing and unwinding at your beach-side hotel.

Day 14
Say farewell to Thailand

Your local guide will transport you from your hotel to Phuket airport for your flight home.
