Day 1
Arrive in Hanoi

You’ll be picked up from the airport and taken to your hotel for an overnight stay in Vietnam’s bustling capital.

Day 2
Duong Lam village and Hanoi tour

Drive to the thousand-year-old village of Duong Lam and explore its timeworn alleys and houses with your guide, learning about Vietnam’s ancient culture and traditions. Stop at Ngo Quyen temple and Phung Hung temple and take a leisurely walk or bicycle ride to Mia Pagoda, before travelling back to Hanoi.

Your guide will lead you on an afternoon tour of the city’s less-known sights including the Temple of Literature, the Vietnamese Women’s Museum, and a traditional paper mask workshop in the city’s old quarter. As evening draws in, take a stroll around scenic Hoan Kiem Lake to visit Ngoc Son temple and then retire back to your hotel in Hanoi.

Day 3
Halong Bay

Travel from Hanoi through the verdant paddy fields of rural Vietnam and get ready for an unforgettable overnight voyage on bewitching Halong Bay. Board an authentic Vietnamese sailing boat to explore the bay’s jade-coloured waters and dramatic karst islands, visiting Soi Sin Beach and Coconut Tree Island. Take an excursion to the floating village of Cua Van and explore by kayak. Continue to grottoes and caves, enjoy exotic spa treatments and cooking demonstrations on deck and try on traditional Bao Dai dresses for dinner before retiring to a comfortable cabin for the night.

Day 4
Halong Bay and fly to Hue

Welcome in the day with Tai Chi on the deck before travelling to one of Halong Bay’s biggest caves adorned with spectacular stalactites and stalagmites. Say farewell to the ship’s crew and drive to Ha Noi airport for a flight to Hue. You’ll be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel in Hue.

Day 5
Hue sightseeing tour

Take a morning cruise on the Huong river to the Thien Mu Pagoda on a river bank. Get immersed in Hue’s cuisine and local life with a home-hosted lunch with chef Nhu Huyat before visiting the vast Imperial Citadel complex and Emperor Tu Duc’s mystical mausoleum. Head back to your hotel for another night in Hue.

Day 6
Hoi An via the Hai Van Pass

Transfer to Hoi An via the spectacular Hai Van Pass, stopping for snaps along the way. Your guide will lead you on a walking tour of the historic port town to old tile-roofed workshops, shady pagodas and colourful communal halls. Visit some of Hoi An’s sights such as Phuc Kien Pagoda and the Japanese wooden bridge before ending the day at a lantern-making cottage. Spend the evening on a rowing boat gliding through colourful floating lanterns before going back to rest at a local hotel.

Day 7
Rural Hoi An

Head into rural Hoi An for a tour of the rice paddies with a local guide. Ride water buffalo, try activities on a family-run farm and cook delicious crispy pancakes. Sip a cup of tea with the farmers and share stories before returning to your hotel. In the afternoon, explore the Hoi An countryside on a Vespa stopping at a fish market and learning to make rice crackers with a local family. Enjoy a picnic in picturesque fields, meet a mat-weaving family and then drive back to the town as the sun goes down over Cam Kim Bridge to spend the night at your hotel.

Day 8
Fly to Ho Chi Minh City

You’ll be taken to Danang airport for a flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Your local guide will show you around Chinatown, visiting the market and taking you to the ancient Thien Hau Temple. In the afternoon, you’ll see some of Ho Chi Minh’s City’s architectural sights – the former Presidential Palace, the 19th-century Notre Dame Cathedral, the beautiful Central Post Office and the heritage district with its French-colonial Hotel de Ville and Opera House. Attend an evening show at the Opera House before retiring back to your hotel for a night in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 9
Hidden Ho Chi Minh City tour and Mekong Delta

Head out early to see the bustling morning markets of this effervescent city including Flower Alley stuffed full of bright and exotic blooms. Then it’s time for a local breakfast of hearty pho noodle soup and milk coffee before following your guide to some of the city’s hidden spots, sampling street food along the way.

Later, you’ll be picked up and driven out into the serene coconut-lined waterways of the Mekong Delta. Whizz along local roads on a moped to lush gardens, green paddies and quaint villages. Switch to a boat and glide along the canals sipping fresh coconut and tropical juices and then cycle along village paths to a local riverside restaurant for lunch. Visit the nearby house of a local expert sticky rice maker before travelling by boat to Ben Tre where your car will take you to a hotel in Can Tho.

Day 10
Mekong Delta markets and fly to Phu Quoc

Board a sampan at dawn to visit the Mekong’s colourful floating markets. Explore Can Tho’s local market before going to the airport for a flight to the little paradise island of Phu Quoc in the Gulf of Thailand. You’ll be met at the airport and taken to a beach hotel in Phu Quoc.

Day 11 & 12
Phu Quoc

Spend a leisurely couple of days chilling out at a beach resort beside the palm-tufted sands of Phu Quoc. If you’re feeling more energetic, you can also go hiking in the jungle or dive the fringing coral reefs.

Day 13
Fly back to Ho Chi Minh City

Relax at your resort before taking a flight to Ho Chi Minh City for an overnight stay.

Day 14
Homeward bound

You’ll be picked up from your hotel and taken to the airport for your flight back home.
